Tanking Damp Proofing Systems Cape Town

TANKING SYSTEMS

Penetrating damp usually occurs where external ground levels are higher than the internal floor levels. Dampness within the soil bears against these walls and penetrates through them. Penetrating damp also occurs in floor slabs where there is a high water table and a compromised damp proofing membrane (DPC). This is particularly prevalent in basements, cellars and near structural retaining walls and requires a "tanking damp proofing system" of treatment to prevent further moisture ingress.

CONCRETE STRUCTURAL REPAIRS

Apart from damp proofing the areas damages by leaking concrete roofs, decks, patios or balconies, structural repairs may also be required when waterproofing concrete slabs. We have experience in:

  • Reinforcing slab stitching
  • Concrete column repairs
  • Beam spalling repairs
Agricultural Drainage Cape Town

AGRICULTURAL DRAINAGE SYSTEMS

These systems are used both on agricultural land and around structures to remove excess water and maintain structural integrity. These systems can be surface or subsurface, and they play a crucial role in preventing waterlogging, salinity, soil erosion & hydrostatic pressure. They typically involve subsurface drainage (perforated pipes or gravel-filled trenches) to remove water away from structures to prevent issues like foundation cracking, water damage, and soil instability.

DAMP PROOFING PROCESS & SYSTEMS

Our general damp proofing procedure:

  • A professional, thorough on-site damp assessment
  • Detailed report issued, with findings, recommendations & a quotation if applicable
  • On signed acceptance of quote, the works is scheduled
  • Deposit invoice is issued a few days prior to commencement of works
  • Client provides electricity, water supply and toilet facilities for our team's use
  • Client removes all personal belongings and furnishings from the area/s to be treated
  • Team arrives per scheduled date and time to commence works
  • Area to be treated is prepared, e.g. we erect boards / plastic to seal off the area to prevent as much disturbance to other areas as possible
  • The area/s to be treated is cleared and stripped to expose damp to be treated
  • Treatment is applied as per the assessment/quotation specifications
  • Area is tidied up as best as possible; treatment is left to dry out for predetermined time
  • Progress invoice is issued for completion of "wet works"
  • Once dry, the team returns to skim and paint the treated areas (if applicable)
  • Final invoice is issued for completion of works

We make use of various appropriate damp proofing systems, including:

  • Heat/fusion application of torch-on membrane
  • Polyurethane systems
  • Cementitious damp proofing systems

Please keep in mind that we've refined this process over decades, since we stand by the quality of our work and guarantee it.
